My body ached this morning when I rolled over to turn off the alarm clock. It ached in a way that I haven't felt in a very looong time. It all started yesterday when I decided to exercise using Jillian Michael's "30 Day Shred" DVD. We have had a LOT of rain for the past week or so and riding my bike hasn't been happening.
It was my first time to exercise with Jillian and frankly, I was a little scared of her. I found the DVD to provide an intense 22 minute workout and Jillian to be encouraging. I was sweating from the first round of exercises. In all my years (6) of exercising at Curves (which ended about 2 years ago) I never experienced such a workout. Before buying the DVD I read a lot of reviews to make sure that it was worth the money. Several reviewers mentioned that it could be hard on the knees during the cardio portions so I used a padded square (like a Curves recovery station) for cushioning.
Ian and Janie were very interested in what I was doing as I gathered the necessary items to exercise. They saw my weights and square and promptly ran off to retrieve Legos (DIY weights for preschoolers) and folded blankets so they could exercise with me. Both kids enjoyed jumping around with Jillian for the first 4 to 5 minutes. I wish I could have taken a quick picture of them with their Legos, but it wasn't possible.
Disclaimer:
I was not paid or given a "30 Day Shred" DVD in exchange for this writing. I'm just a busy SAHM who is building a toolbox of physical activity.
