Burley bliss

Janie "catching" Ian coming down the slide at the park
My car is now home from the shop. It was out of commission for about a week and a half. New spark plug wires were installed and the problem we were having has been remedied. In that short time my bike got quite a workout - and so did I! I found that many of the places we go are within 4 1/2 miles of our home. The kids are comfortable riding in our Burley trailer and I am happy to get the fresh air. My bike is pedal-assist so hills aren't a problem and I don't arrive at the destination completely worn out. We have been grocery shopping (so glad that the trailer has a trunk!), church and the park. Not having to wrestle with carseats and getting up front parking at stores are attractive features of biking around. If I could find a kid helmet for Ian that doesn't pinch we'd be in an even happier place.

A few years ago our clothes dryer broke in a way that wasn't practical to replace the part. I was too thrifty to replace it right away and we began to line dry our clothes. Eventually we did purchase a new dryer but by that time we were in the habit of line drying. Now it's used as back up when laundry has really piled up. It is my hope that since we have gotten used to biking most places that this will continue now that my car is functional. Of course, that will make it challenging to make the 200,000 mile club at the dealership.....

Regular exercise is an action step we all can take to prevent/speed recovery from cancer.
